Day Two of the Maryland 5 Star at Fair Hill Virtual Event focused on Dressage, the first of three phases in Three-Day Eventing. From the French word meaning “training,” dressage was originally created to show the horse’s submission and ability to perform intricate movements required for cavalry exercises.
Professional judge, Gretchen Butts, taught viewers how scoring works for a 5 Star Dressage test. The discipline demonstrates the graceful partnership of horse and rider through a sequence of movements. The main goal being that the horse should demonstrate balance, rhythm, suppleness and most importantly obedience.
Today’s content was brought to you by Quarry View Building Group. They provide a sneak peek into the construction of the custom-made Maryland 5 Star dressage boxes.
