The Maryland 5 Star at Fair Hill Virtual Event continued highlighting Cross-Country on Day Three. Content was presented by Cecil County Tourism.
The Cross-Country phase typically takes place on the second day of competition, but always after the Dressage phase. Cross-Country is the cornerstone of Eventing and challenges the horse and rider’s bravery, fitness and determination over varied terrain and solid obstacles. Carrying forward their penalty points from the dressage phase as their score, riders want to finish with the fewest penalties possible by jumping every fence on the first try and finishing the course within the allotted time limit, which is known as optimum time.
For the first time during the test event in August riders competed on Fair Hill’s new Ian Stark designed Cross-Country course. Day Three features footage from the test event and commentary from Stark.
Cross-Country day is always known for great tailgating as well. Footage also includes a tailgate guide with some great recipes and tips.

Day Four, our final day of the Virtual Event, will look at Show Jumping, presented by Dubarry of Ireland. Watch at the Virtual Event page.
