Fair Hill is a 5,656-acre Natural Resources Management Area, where multiple management practices are employed for the maximum use and protection of Maryland’s natural resources. Located between Baltimore and Philadelphia, and less than a mile from the Delaware border, Fair Hill is known for its pristine terrain, woodlands, and natural beauty.
Formerly owned by William duPont, Jr., an avid equestrian and racecourse developer, Fair Hill was once one of the largest private landholdings in the east. In 1975, the State of Maryland purchased the land from Mr. duPont’s estate.
In 2019, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources partnered with the Maryland Stadium Authority to design and construct the Fair Hill Special Event Zone, a world-class venue equipped to host multiple equestrian disciplines. Phase One of the project was completed in 2020 including the construction of a new Ian Stark-designed cross-country course, new dressage and show jumping arenas, as well as upgrades to Fair Hill’s historic turf course.
Fair Hill is the first equestrian center in the world that includes:
-
