Katie’s Story
Katie Hasse has a passion for Eventing and all equine-related sports. With over 20 years of riding experience, Katie founded and managed Deerfield Sport Horses in Upperville, Virginia while competing in a variety of disciplines, including the upper levels of Eventing and Dressage as well as finishing the Mongol Derby in 2019. After taking a step back from riding professionally, Katie was hired to manage all aspects of a dog and cat rescue, and spent two years revamping their internal processes and development program. An animal lover, Katie has personally fostered over 400 dogs and cats until they were adopted to their forever homes. Katie joined the Sport and Entertainment Corporation of Maryland in 2022 and is looking forward to being part of the team for the 2025 Maryland 5 Star at Fair Hill.
In her free time, Katie enjoys spending time riding her horses, and hanging out with her six dogs, 25 chickens, and her pet pig, Miss Piggy.
