Marshall, McNerney & Collett join management team of Maryland 5 Star at Fair Hill
(Baltimore, MD) — The Sport and Entertainment Corporation of Maryland (The Sport Corp.) has announced the hire of three new staff members who will execute event management, partnership sales and promotion for the annual Maryland 5 Star at Fair Hill equestrian eventing competition. The inaugural edition of the event is set for October 15-18 of this year at the newly constructed Fair Hill Special Event Zone in Cecil County, Maryland. Jeff Newman, President and CEO of The Fair Hill Organizing Committee (FHOC) and the Maryland 5 Star at Fair Hill – affiliates of The Sport Corp. – introduced Kim Marshall, Senior Event Director, Kaitlyn McNerney, Director of Partnerships, and Kaleigh Collett, Marketing Coordinator, at a recent meeting of The Fair Hill Organizing Committee in Baltimore.
“On behalf of The FHOC and The Sport Corp, we feel very fortunate to have found such incredibly experienced, skilled and knowledgeable individuals to join our efforts in the promotion and production of the inaugural Maryland 5 Star at Fair Hill,” said Newman. “Like any successful business or event, you’re only as good as the team you build around you, and so we’re ecstatic to have Kim, Kaitlyn and Kaleigh on board.”

Kim Marshall joined The FHOC in December 2019, having previously produced several large-scale outdoor events including signature events for the award-winning National Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington, D.C. and Star-Spangled Spectacular in Baltimore, MD.
“I’m excited to be a part of this rare and prestigious sporting event, and even more excited to return to producing world-class events in my home state of Maryland,” said Marshall.
In her new role, Marshall will manage and oversee all activities that take place at the Maryland 5 Star at Fair Hill, creating and implementing a comprehensive site, venue and operational plan for the event and related activities at the site. She will also work closely with The FHOC’s Competition Management partner, Fair Hill International, and venue personnel to execute a seamless and first-class event with emphasis on customer service.
“Kim’s background in producing major festivals and entertainment focused events on public land will be a huge plus in adding and maximizing the venue space for fan-friendly activations,” added Newman.
Kaitlyn McNerney joined the Maryland 5 Star at Fair Hill team in January. She brings more than ten years’ experience in event planning, marketing and sales experience, most recently serving as the Development Director of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Maryland Chapter.
“I am thrilled to be joining the Fair Hill Organizing Committee and the Maryland 5 Star at Fair Hill team and I am looking forward to a great year and an amazing event,” said McNerney.
McNerney will serve as the Director of Partnerships, Activation and Hospitality. In that role, McNerney will manage and oversee all aspects of the Sponsorship/ Partner campaign, Hospitality, and Fan Experience for the Maryland 5 Star at Fair Hill.
“Kaitlyn’s vast experience in fundraising, brand activation/VIP hospitality & special events will provide the confidence sponsors need as we hit the market to secure event partnerships,” said Newman.
Kaleigh Collett has competed in eventing for more than a decade, with four years of experience working in the horse industry, most recently with the Washington International Horse Show in Washington, D.C.
“As a long-time equestrian and eventing fanatic, I am thrilled to be given the opportunity to be on the ground floor of this incredible event,” said Collett.
Collett will be tasked with responsibilities in the areas of marketing and promotion, competition management, vendor sales, website/e-newsletter content and social media.
“As an active eventer, Kaleigh brings extensive industry knowledge with the unique ability to see things from the rider viewpoint,” said Newman. “Her perspective will be extremely helpful recognizing the welfare of the horse and rider experience is of paramount importance and priority number one.”
